We are divine collaborations…
I am a collection of atoms having a humxn experience ~ I strive to be in service and reverence with all my relations in all of my actions.
In this form, I am a multidisciplinary artist, activist, scientist, earth tender, systems thinker and community weaver who has a vision to inspire environmental and social narrative change through sculpture, experiential art and community building.
I am interested in the in-between, the relationships and the systems that are created by these collisions & collaborations. I am guided by the non-human world and am always trying to learn different ways of listening. In the human realm, I am guided by indigenous wisdoms, situated knowledges, deep ecology, quantum physics and decolonial frameworks. I believe our built environment is a physical manifestation of our ideologies, therefore I believe we can shape ideologies and our environmental & social narratives by reshaping space and how we relate to our material reality.
For the past eight years I have express this through my journey of creating mostly large scale public sculpture out of what people to refer to as "waste".
After graduating from UC Berkeley with a B.S. in Environmental Science, Policy and Management, as well as a B.A. in Sustainable Environmental Design, I saw one of the biggest challenges to “solving the worlds problems” was a disconnect between disciplines and a disconnect between thinking and doing or mind & body. I dreamt of interconnected, living, biomimetic design solutions on all scales and knew that I would have to pave my own path, often saying the career I want doesn’t exist yet.
I set on a mission to learn construction as a first step to being able to move out of the mind into the body in the worlds of design. Through this journey, I met and joined forces with artist Joel Dean Stockdill. Together we set out to create large scale sculptures that inspired and educated people about their local fauna from the remains of what humans had left behind on that land. Our sculptures are homages to the creatures that are extinct or currently need our help (endangered etc). Joel and I still collaborate to this day on certain projects but are also focusing on solo works and projects with other collaborators.
I make art in hopes of reconnecting people to the natural world in all its abundance and deep lessons. I dream to create sculptures that embody function as well as form by mimicking natural processes to collect water, solar, etc and give back to the ecosystems they are a part of. I believe that the built/ physical environment is deeply political and social in nature and try to honor that within my design and approach.
In addition to sculpture, design & painting, I have a deep passion for dance and performance art as an avenue for somatic healing.
I use my spare time to learn how to tend to nature better. I live on a five acre multigenerational land project where I implementing regenerative land practices, growing food and raising animals. I engage with the land as a living laboratory where I get to play, relate to and learn from the non human world with deep respect, reverence and listening.
I recently completed a soil microbiology intensive with the Soil Food Web School and became a Certified Lab Technician. I am continuing on my journey to merge art, science and spirituality.
Thank you for reading this and getting to know me. If this resonates with you, please reach out! I deeply believe that magic happens in collaboration.
I am currently open for commissions, and to support and work with aligned projects. The soil health services will be launching soon!
