Description
Weightless invites us to balance the impact of our human behavior. These sculptures were created to honor all of the resident fish and wildlife species and to encourage people to take responsibility for their own trash. The fish are constructed with steel anchors and other assorted litter that was removed from the bottom of Donner Lake.
The waste removal was part of a series of cleanup projects completed by the non-profit Clean Up The Lake. In just two short years, the organization removed over 13,001 pounds of submerged litter from beneath the surface of this magnificent lake.
The title of the sculpture has layered meaning: by creating a sculpture using reclaimed material, our burden as humans weighs less; and by taking action now against pollution, we must wait less.
The sculpture was commissioned by the Town of Truckee.
